What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

Neighbourhood Planning was introduced through the Localism Act 2011. A Neighbourhood Plan is a way of helping local communities to influence the planning of the area in which they live and work.  It can be used to develop a shared vision of a neighbourhood; choose where new homes, shops and other development should be built, identify and protect important green spaces and influence what new buildings should look like.  

Mawdesley Parish Council applied to Chorley Council to designate Mawdesley Parish for the purpose of producing a Neighbourhood Plan, this was approved on 24th January.
